Want Great Skin? 4 Ways To Recreate The Spa Experience At Home

Articles

Going to the spa daily or weekly is not realistic for many people. But just because you cannot go to the spa as often as you want does not mean you cannot incorporate spa-like products into your daily and weekly skin care routine.

Use Steam

Steam is essential to help unclog pores and improve absorption of skin care products. Whenever you plan to do special skin treatments, such as masks or deep cleanings, start your routine by using steam. Ideally, you should invest in a facial steamer to make the process easier. Spend five to 10 minutes bathing your face and neck in steam. If you do not have a facial steamer, boil a pot of water. Place a towel over your head and position your face over the steam. The towel will help trap the steam around your face. After using steam, lightly pat your skin dry with a clean towel or paper towel.

Incorporate Masks

There are numerous masks on the market designed to help with different problems, such as acne-prone skin or exfoliation. Although you will need to experiment with different masks to determine which ones work with your skin type and needs, there are a few basic ingredients you should consider. Masks that include or only contain clay or charcoal are popular because of their skin purifying properties.

Bentonite clay can be purchased as a single ingredient for you to make facial masks from scratch. You can mix bentonite clay with water or apple cider vinegar to create your mask. There is no special recipe, just mix the clay with the liquid of your choice until you reach a spreadable consistency. Apply the mask to your face and allow it to dry. Once the mask has dried and starts to crack, rinse it off your face with lukewarm or cool water. If you are experimenting with bentonite clay, start by using water to mix your mask. Apple cider vinegar can be harsher on the skin and could cause irritation. Try using your mask once per week after washing your face.

Charcoal masks can be used in a similar manner. If you want to mix your own charcoal mask, try purchasing activated charcoal that is safe for consumption. This will ensure it is safe for use on your skin. Do not be afraid to try different masks on various areas of your face. You likely have different skin types and concerns on different parts of your face. Simply use a paint brush to apply each mask in different regions.

Exfoliate Thoroughly

A thorough exfoliation, at least weekly, will help rejuvenate your skin and also aid the absorption of facial products. You do not need harsh chemicals for adequate exfoliation. Some common exfoliating products include oatmeal and baking soda. Try adding a few pinches of plain oatmeal to your facial cleanser and gently massage the product into your skin. Avoid any current areas of breakouts or irritation when exfoliating your skin. If your skin is oily or you have an oily T-zone, baking soda can be a better exfoliating product. Its fine granules are better for the face than ones with large granules, such as sugar.

Add High-Quality Serums And Moisturizers

The serums and moisturizers you use can make a significant difference in the look and feel of your skin. Serums are good for spot treatments of skin concerns, such as fine lines and hyperpigmentation, when used regularly. Once your skin is clean and exfoliated, this is the time you want to apply your serums. They will penetrate the skin easier and will not be occluded by your moisturizers. If fine lines or problems with skin texture are a concern, look for serums with retinol. Over time, retinol products help with exfoliation and allow fresh skin to reach the surface. For hyperpigmented areas, look for serums with lemon extract. Not only do these products aid in exfoliation, but they can also help lighten hyperpigmented areas.

Much like masks, you may need to customize the moisturizers you use for different areas of your face. For oily or acne-prone areas of your face, use a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer. Gel-based moisturizers are a good formulation for oily skin. If you have dry or normal skin on parts of your face, do not be afraid to try moisturizers containing oils on those areas. Although oil is not genuinely a moisturizer, oil can help retain moisture when you have dry skin.

When you are trying to improve your skin's appearance, your skin care products and techniques can make a significant difference. Establishing a good daily skin care routine and specialized weekly treatments can help you recreate the spa experience at home.

Keep these tips in mind and buy at home spa products to experiment with different skin regiments.

Improving The Smell Of My Hair

I have always been a naturally sweaty person, which kind of got in the way when I really started dating. I realized I was going to be left trying to smell my best around the people around me, which really made me nervous. However, a friend of mine told me about a great kind of shampoo that was meant to help people who were struggling with bad odors. The shampoo really improved the smell of my hair, and when I used it every day, it eliminated the issue altogether. This blog is all about improving your hair and skin care by changing up your products.
