Strategies To Reduce Post-Shaving Discomfort And Ingrown Hair Growth

Blog

If there is one thing that both men and women equally hate, it is the pain and ingrown hairs that come from daily shaving. Since not shaving anymore isn't a practical solution, it is important that you realize there are many other ways you can reduce your post-shaving discomfort.

Here are some strategies you can use to reduce post-shaving problems:

Never Shave Against the Growth Direction of Your Hairs

While you may be tempted to shave your hair against its growth direction to get the closest shave possible, this is never a good idea. While you will have a few hours of baby-soft skin, you will ultimately pay for it for days with the growth of ingrown hairs. By shaving with the growth direction of your hair, you can prevent painful and unsightly ingrown hairs once and for all.

Soften Your Hair with Warm Water Before Shaving

Before you start shaving, first you must soften your hair with some warm water. The easiest way to do this is to shave after you take a bath or shower. If you will not be bathing but need to shave, then you can wrap the area to be shaved in a warm washcloth or towel. Let the warm cloth sit on your skin for a few minutes until it starts to feel like it is cooling off.

Only Use Very Sharp Razor Blades

If you try to save money by extending the use of your disposable razors past the time where they should be replaced, this is a practice that you need to stop immediately. Shaving with a dull razor blade leads to uneven removal of hair and it also leads to more frequent skin cuts. A dull blade doesn't move as smoothly across your skin and when it hangs up it can cause the blade to turn sideways and cut you.

Apply a High-Quality Aftershave Product Each Time You Shave

Finally, after you have shaved using the proper technique using a sharp razor, then you should apply a high-quality aftershave product to the entire area you shaved. Since there are many aftershave products on the market, you should choose one that is either a thick lotion or a balm. These aftershave skin care products contain moisturizers that will immediately stop any razor burn pain and will help your skin look and feel wonderful. If you prefer an aftershave that does not have a scent, then you can choose one that is unscented.

Improving The Smell Of My Hair

I have always been a naturally sweaty person, which kind of got in the way when I really started dating. I realized I was going to be left trying to smell my best around the people around me, which really made me nervous. However, a friend of mine told me about a great kind of shampoo that was meant to help people who were struggling with bad odors. The shampoo really improved the smell of my hair, and when I used it every day, it eliminated the issue altogether. This blog is all about improving your hair and skin care by changing up your products.
