Beginner Tips For Successful Spray Tans

Blog

When it comes to tanning, you might be trying to decide between spray tanning and traditional tanning beds. No matter what you're tanning for, whether a special event or just general appearances, you should consider your tanning methods carefully. While traditional tanning bed treatments are lasting, you may wonder how to make a sunless tan last. Here are some tips to help you get the most from your sunless tan.

Proper Preparation Starts Ahead Of Time

You should start preparing your body two to three days before your spray tan appointment. You should exfoliate and moisturize your skin once a day for the few days leading up to your appointment. This ensures that your skin is free of dead cells and is adequately moisturized before the spray application. You should also increase your water intake to help maintain moisture for a more consistent application.

These steps are important because dry, flaky, or dead skin cells can interfere with the spray tan's absorption. This can lead to your spray tan looking spotty or uneven, which isn't the ideal result. Creating a healthy, moisturized, vibrant canvas ensures a quality finish.

Ensuring Success The Day Of The Application

Right before your tanning session, you should rinse your skin off completely. Don't use any shampoo, soap, or abrasive cleaning products on your skin right before the session, though. Simply rinse off in the shower and use your hands to brush anything off your skin.

Don't use any oils or lotions on your skin before your appointment, either. These things can interfere with your spray tan's absorption. An oil layer on your skin will keep the tan from actually absorbing into your skin and it will wipe right off. This also includes deodorant, so skip that as well.

Choose loose clothing so that your clothes don't rub your spray tan off. Opt for black or dark-colored clothing. White is going to be discolored by the spray. Don't wear anything tight, including socks and closed-toe shoes.

Finally, make sure you keep up with your water intake on the day of the spray tan application.

Preserving Your Tan After Application

When your tan is applied, the spray tan technician will tell you how long you should wait to shower. In most cases, the tanner takes up to 24 hours to completely develop the color. Then, you can rinse off in the shower to remove any residual spray. Don't rinse too soon or you won't get the full color development. You also shouldn't wait too long past the recommended time to rinse because the spray may overdevelop and end up too dark.

Improving The Smell Of My Hair

I have always been a naturally sweaty person, which kind of got in the way when I really started dating. I realized I was going to be left trying to smell my best around the people around me, which really made me nervous. However, a friend of mine told me about a great kind of shampoo that was meant to help people who were struggling with bad odors. The shampoo really improved the smell of my hair, and when I used it every day, it eliminated the issue altogether. This blog is all about improving your hair and skin care by changing up your products.
